Bipin Shrimali, Founder & CMD – M/s Mahapreit; 2nd from the right: Mr. Ajit Thomas, Co-Founder & CEO – Vrikshlife as well as Co-Founder of AFI WeGroWood)This partnership is the result of our exclusive collaboration with F.A.R.M.E.R. NGO, which supports us in planning, establishing and managing all plantations within the WeGroWood Group. Together we are committed to sustainable development and the protection of the environment.
The farsightedness of Sri. Shirali, CMD of Mahapreit and the constructive and solution-oriented company outlook as such, has resulted in this ground-breaking cooperation with Vrikshlife. With this contract, Mahapreit & therefore the state of Maharashtra are visionary pioneers in utilising the fasted growing Hardwood Tree on earth that is also the tree with the highest Carbon Sequestration capacity per Acre, of any hardwood tree worldwide – The Phoenix One® Paulownia Tree, for state-owned plantation projects under the concept of Trees outside Forest Areas (TOF). Not only will these plantations sequestrate extraordinary quantities of CO2, they will also generate large quantities of high quality hardwood, which in turn will reduce the felling pressure on natural forests as well as decrease the import dependency of the Indian wood processing industries. Sri. Shrimali has already instructed its department to identify 1,250 Acres of suitable land for the first pilot project, which is scheduled to be implemented in 2024 and marks the beginning of our large-scale Phoenix One® Paulownia tree plantations in Maharashtra.
The Government of Maharashtra recognises the incredible potential of our concepts, which can be set up as standalone large scale plantations as well as involving small & marginal farmers. The demand for locally grown quality timber is immense and steadily increasing, as it is more sustainable, reduces the need for imported timber and generates thousands of local job opportunities.
In addition, carbon sequestration plays a crucial role in the fight against climate change. The paulownia tree has the extraordinary ability to absorb large amounts of carbon from the atmosphere and store it in its wood. Through our large-scale planting projects, we are actively helping to reduce CO2 emissions and making an important contribution to climate protection.
We look forward to a successful and genuinely impactful long-term cooperation with Mahapreit, its dynamic leader CMD Sri. Shrimali and the entire Mahapreit Team.
