WGW Agroforestry successfully participated in the ASSOCHAM Environment and Carbon Conference 2024, which was inaugurated by Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The conference was held in New Delhi on August 29 and focused on the important topic of promoting a collaborative ecosystem to achieve net zero emissions by 2070.

The directors of WGW Agroforestry, Mr. Vikram Karunakaram and Mr. Ajit Thomas, contributed as panellists and speakers in the event and shared valuable insights on innovative approaches of integrated agroforestry within sustainable development strategies. Their presentations emphasised the importance of partnerships between different sectors to promote environmental sustainability while creating economic opportunities.

During the conference the representatives of WGW Agroforestry had the opportunity to briefly introduce the concept to the Hon’ble Minister Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, with a mutual intent to continue the discussions as soon as feasible. Several distinguished participants from various government bodies as well as industries approached Mr. Kuranakaram and Mr. Thomas in order to gain further insights of the unique WGW Agroforestry approach, concepts as well as the tree and its enormous potential and benefits.

A highlight of the event was a panel discussion in which WGW Agroforestry's unique model was highlighted. The creation and safeguarding of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for each project was seen by participants as particularly transparent and secure. This model allows WGW Agroforestry to manage projects efficiently while building trust with all stakeholders.

We are proud to be part of this important conference and to contribute our vision for a sustainable future,” said Ajit Thomas.

He further emphasised “To have a truly meaningful and lasting contribution for the environment, a concept and resultant project must not just address one key factor, but multiple collated ones. With our fully managed plantation concepts, we not only address Climate Change via unprecedented and fully documented Carbon Sequestration, but secure existing forests via large scale high quality wood production, direct improvement of soil health and ground water capacities via our dramatic soil quality enhancement processes for our natural/organic plantations, as well as supporting multiple wood industries that are already suffering from import dependency, increasing raw material prices and dwindling resources.

He further explained “The positive response to our SPV model shows that transparency and security are crucial to the successful implementation of sustainable projects.”

WGW Agroforestry remains committed to developing innovative solutions in the field of sustainable agriculture and actively contributing to the achievement of global climate goals.
